Cumulative revenue collection from stamp duty and registration charges from 27 states and one union territory in India recorded Rs 948.47 billion in the first half of the current financial year.
In terms of absolute revenue figures, Maharashtra leads the way with the highest collection of state revenue from stamp duty and registration fees at Rs 186 billion. In the first half of the current financial year, the state contributed 20% to the country’s overall stamp duty and registration fee revenue. Uttar Pradesh ranks second with a revenue of Rs 123.94 billion contributing 13% to the overall collection. Uttar Pradesh’s revenue saw a 33% increase to Rs 93 billion in the first half of the current financial year.
Tamil Nadu is third with Rs 86.62 billion contributing 9% to the overall revenue generated by the country. The revenue of the state has seen an increase of 39% in the first half of the current financial year. Which in the financial year 2022 was Rs 62 Abhaj. Karnataka and Telangana are at 4th and 5th position with revenue of Rs 82.29 billion and Rs 72.13 billion respectively.
In terms of year-on-year percentage growth, Mizoram has seen 104%, followed by Meghalaya 82%, Sikkim 70%, Maharashtra 65%, Odisha 50% and Telangana and Kerala 48%.
Eleven states namely Mizoram, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan have recorded more than 40% increase in their revenue collection.
